![]() Plug both of those in and the wire from the camera and you are good to go. They supplied an adapter that plugs into the navigation unit and a separate coding module. I did not need to splice any wires from the navigation unit and did not have to do any coding. The best part of the kit was that it is completely plug and play. It is definitely enough to route the cable anyway you feel is easiest. ![]() I was concerned about the length of the cable that had to go from the trunk to the navigation unit, but in the end I had a couple feet extra. If you have a few standard tools and a few hours, you can definitely complete it without a problem. ![]() Install was pretty straight forward I’ll go into details on that in the DIY. The camera integrated into the trunk handle looks like it was a stock piece, exactly what I wanted. Everything looks and feels like it could be an OEM part. After the order they gave me a PDF on instructions on how to connect the the camera, which was nice to be able to look over before the cameras arrived. The packaging it came in was nice and I was easily able to distinguish the parts. I’ve never done an install like this before, but I decided to DIY and see what happens. In about a week after the order I got the Bimmer Retrofit rear view camera kit and installed it over the weekend. Asked their customer support team some questions, and decided to order it soon after. Recently, I stumbled upon the Bimmer Retrofit kit while searching on Google. Most make it yourself kits did not have the quality I was looking for (ebay cameras) and I always felt like the full kits sold by vendors on here are too much money. I attach TWO ScreenPrints from ISTA for your 2006 330i with AT. Not sure what "Black/Red wire you are referencing, or an "R" on the gear knob. I've never installed a Backup Camera, and know NOTHING about the product you are installing, so can only suggest POSSIBILITIES. It would appear your choices are:ġ) Use 12V+ signal from either of the power supply wires from FRM to a backup light on the trunk-lid, ORĢ) Use the "POS_R" signal, Black/Yellow wire, between the E82 Gear Indicator Light and S227 Selector Lever Position Switch. So there is NO 12V+ Signal INPUT to the FRM that your product can use to Activate the Backup Camera. Since you have AT, note that the signal to the FRM to activate the Reversing Lights is by K-CAN Bus, instead of a dedicated wire. You would have to refer to your aftermarket product wiring instructions to see if "Activation" is by Ground or 12V+, probably the latter.
